ANIMATION FOR THEATRE & LIVE PERFORMANCE

Are you a theatre maker looking to bring your production design to life with animation? Or looking for a creative collaborator for a multimedia or mixed art form project?

We love working with theatre and live performance – our director Lauren grew up in the theatre, acting, teching and watching shows!

We've created animation for 12 productions, ranging from creating AV for musical numbers in Carys Eleri's shows at Wales Millennium Centre, to animating a Street Art Opera for Music Theatre Wales, to trilingual surtitling, supporting R&D phases, and engaging young people in co-creation. We work closely with set designers, tech teams, producers and directors to create beautiful work that runs smoothly and makes the most of your resources.

We always love making new connections with theatre makers and performers. Get in touch if you fancy a coffee and a chat!

I adore working with Lauren, it’s always so much of a joyous process that it doesn’t feel like ‘work.’ She has brought two of my live, comedy-music shows to visual life, and words cannot describe how wonderful the process was. She seems to read my mind with all of the visuals I require which are always so vibrant and clever. Even while working under pressure, she delivers with grace and a huge smile.

Shakespeare's Globe – The Complete Walk

On the 400th aniversary of Shakespeare's death, Shakespeare's Globe's The Complete Walk project took place on London's South Bank. 37 specially-made 10 minute films were screened continuously throughout the weekend along the iconic 2.5 mile stretch between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge. Each film explores one of Shakespeare’s plays, with original animation sequences directed by Picl's Lauren Orme.

Running Dog Theatre – To The Waters And The Wild

We collaborated with Running Dog Theatre on visual development in the R&D phase of their production To The Waters And The Wild. We spent two weeks working alongside the musicians, sending visual responses to new musical numbers, giving the musicians visual stimulus to respond to in turn.

Following the success of Lovecraft, we reunited with Carys Eleri and Wales Millennium Centre to create animated musical numbers and playful science visuals for her new comedy science musical show Tonguing.

Omidaze – The Democracy Box

The Democracy Box, created by Omidaze, is about young people finding new creative ways to share The Story of our UK Democracy. The Democracy Box works with young people aged 16-26, born or based in Wales, as paid co-creators. Picl's Lauren Orme facilitated workshops with some of the young co-creators to develop animation skills and ideas, and produced this animation for Picking Brains, a podcast created by some of the young people. Lauren also worked as a freelance Producer for Omidaze's The Talking Shop project.
