Alongside our core work, we take on a range of creative side projects, including: graphics for documentaries, short films, idents, stings and animated logos, music videos, compositing, illustration and design, 3D product visualisations, and educational content.
We produce animated short films, including The Hounds of Annwn (2023), supported by BFI Network Wales, Ffilm Cymru and BBC Wales. Picl's Lauren Orme has directed shorts including Creepy Pasta Salad, which was shortlisted for Best Short Animation at the 2020 BAFTA Film Awards and nominated for a BAFTA Cymru. We’re currently in pre-production on a new short funded by the BFI’s Short Form Animation Fund.
We create animation and motion graphics for documentaries — from broadcast to branded to feature films.
Credits include Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me on BBC One for Wildflame, and animated sequences for Audible and The Economist. Lauren Orme is an alumna of Grierson Doc Lab, where she trained with mentors from leading UK production companies in creative documentary storytelling.
We create idents, stings and animated logos for broadcasters, festivals, arts organisations and brands. Our work includes full Christmas branding for S4C – idents, break bumpers and a 60' animated short – as well as logo animations for the Grierson Trust, Wales Arts Review, Cardiff Animation Festival, Anim18, Whalebone Films, Nuwave Films and more.
We love making animated music videos. We've created official music videos for artists including Oliver Wilde and Feather Beds.
We use experimental and handmade animation techniques to tell stories and create beautiful and atmospheric visual worlds.
We provide compositing for 2D and stop-motion animation, bringing together hand-drawn and digital elements seamlessly.
